Hello beautiful soul
and welcome. If you’ve found your way here and we haven’t met yet - my name is Janna. Creating heart-led retreats and bringing like-minded souls together is not just my work, but my deepest passion. For thousands of years, humans have gathered in community - to sing, to dance, to heal, to cry and to laugh together. There is something ancient that awakens when we sit in circle, gather around the fire and witness each another in our humanness. Retreats, for me, are a remembering of who we are when we slow down and come together with intention.
The story behind Spirit of Bali
My love story with Bali began in 2011. From the very moment I arrived, something in me awakened.
I remember riding my scooter through the lush landscape outside of Ubud, tears streaming down my face, overwhelmed with gratitude. The land, the people, the food, the energy - it all felt deeply captivating. More than that, I felt at ease, a feeling I hadn’t known well at that time in my life. The next morning, I watched the owner of the homestay where I was staying prepare offerings and place them at a small temple in her garden. The grace, patience, and devotion in her movements stayed with me. Ritual and magic weren’t separate from daily life here: they were woven into it.
Since that first journey, I’ve returned to Bali nearly every year. Even when I made other plans, the land seemed to call me back again and again. Each visit carried its own kind of magic, each one offering something meaningful. This is the place that held me during moments of deep transition - where I discovered breathwork, found new direction and purpose, met my partner, and where I got pregnant with my daugther.
I carry nothing but love for this island. And witnessing the rapid development it has undergone in recent years has been painful. For a long time, I hesitated to bring a retreat group here. First because the timing wasn’t right, and later because I was afraid of contributing to mass tourism and the harm it can cause. But after six years of listening, considering, and waiting, the call has become unmistakably clear.
Spirit of Bali is a journey into the authentic soul of the island. Experienced in a slower, more grounded and deeply respectful way. My intention is for you to experience Bali the way I did when I first arrived: raw, powerful, devotional and alive. This is a deeply personal offering. I’m inviting you into the place that has held my heart for many years. A land that continues to inspire, humble and amaze me with each return.
If this resonates with you, I invite you to read through the retreat details and offerings below, and feel into whether this journey is calling you.
With all my love,
Janna
Spirit of Bali Retreat | October 10th - 16th, 2026 | Balian, West Bali
Daily Yoga
Each morning begins with grounding yoga practices to gently awaken the body and cultivate presence. These sessions are nourishing rather than demanding, supporting mobility, breath awareness, and nervous system regulation. Meeting your body where it is and allowing movement to become a form of listening.
Conscious Breath Ceremony with Janna
Breathwork is a central pillar of the retreat. Through guided conscious breathwork, you’ll be invited into deeper connection with yourself - physically, emotionally, and energetically. These sessions offer space to release stored tension, access inner clarity and reconnect with your innate sense of trust and intuition. Each journey is held with care, safety and integration in mind.
Fire & Ice Journey with Nico
One of the deeper experiential offerings of the retreat is the Fire & Ice Journey, a 90-minute session weaving breathwork, sauna, and ice bath. This experience supports nervous system resilience, mental clarity and embodied presence. Moving consciously between heat and cold becomes a powerful practice in meeting intensity with breath, awareness and choice.
Traditional Balinese Water Purification Ceremony (Melukat)
You’ll take part in a traditional Melukat ceremony. A sacred water purification ritual guided by a local priest at a holy water temple. This ancient practice is a profound experience of cleansing, blessing, and renewal, offering a moment to release what no longer serves and receive the prayers of the land and its people.
Creative & Cultural Experiences
The retreat also invites you into the everyday magic of Balinese life. A mala-making workshop, where you create your own mala with intention and presence. A Balinese cooking class, offering connection to local flavours, traditions, and communal nourishment. A day excursion to a sacred site held close to the heart, shared privately with participants, allowing for a deeper, more intimate experience of the island
Elemental Rituals
Fire, water, earth, and air are woven throughout the retreat. A Fire Ceremony near the end of our time together offers space for reflection, release, and intention. Honouring what has shifted and what you wish to carry forward. These ceremonial moments are simple, grounded and deeply intentional.
Rest, Nature & Integration
Equally important is what is not scheduled. You’ll have ample time to rest, swim, float in the pool, enjoy the sauna and ice bath, paddle on the lake, receive spa treatments, or simply sit in stillness. Slowness is not a side effect of this retreat - it is the practice.
Preparation & Integration
To support a grounded and respectful experience, the retreat includes a pre-retreat call, where cultural guidance, intentions, and practical information are shared. A post-retreat integration call offers space to reflect, integrate insights, and gently bridge the experience back into everyday life.
“Bali is one of the richest places on earth when it comes to spirituality, ritual, and land-based wisdom. This retreat is about experiencing Bali in her true essence. Honoring the culture, moving slowly and letting the land lead. A week of breath, ritual, nature and ceremony.
”
The Essence of the Journey
Connect deeply with the sacred land and living spirit of Bali, experiencing the island beyond the surface and into its quiet, devotional heart.
Learn to embrace slowness - from the way you wake up, to how you eat your breakfast, to the way you breathe. This retreat invites you to move through your days with presence, intention, and reverence for the small moments.
Be gently guided into simple, accessible practices that support nervous system regulation, grounding, and restoration. Tools you can take with you long after the retreat ends.
Experience what it feels like to be held by rhythm rather than schedule, allowing your body and breath to lead instead of urgency or expectation.
Reconnect with yourself in a women-only container rooted in safety, softness, and shared presence without fixing, striving or judgement.
Create space for emotional processing, integration and quiet insight through breathwork, ceremony and elemental rituals.
Remember how it feels to rest deeply - not just physically, but mentally and emotionally - supported by nature, ritual, and community.
Return home with a renewed sense of self, a calmer nervous system, and a heart filled with clarity, steadiness and trust in your own rhythm.
Make authentic connections and friendships with women who are on a similar journey. Many of our participants stay connected even post Retreat and become friends for life.
This is an offline journey. We advice you to not bring any work on your laptop with you and there is a strict no phone rule during the healings, ceremonies, activities and meals.
Location: Balian, West Bali
Nestled in the quiet coastal village of Balian, on the least developed side of the island, this retreat centre is held by a sense of timelessness and calm. Often referred to as the “West Bali experience,” the area is known for its exuberant nature, expansive sunsets, powerful ocean energy and a way of life that feels reminiscent of Ubud many years ago - slower, simpler and deeply rooted. Balian carries an innocent, unspoiled charm. It is a place where presence comes naturally, where connection to the land, to the people, and to oneself feels effortless. Time seems to soften here, inviting rest, reflection, and genuine being.
The retreat centre itself was born from a long-standing relationship with this land. Over the years, it became a sanctuary - a place to retreat from the busier parts of Bali, to surf, practice yoga, meditate, recharge, and reconnect. With time, deep bonds were formed with the local community, and a vision emerged: to create a space that honors the spirit of Balian rather than disrupts it. Designed with humility and care, the centre blends seamlessly into its surroundings. It is not intrusive, but quietly present. A haven for travelers, seekers and those longing to experience Bali in a more grounded, authentic way. The values of community integration, respect for the ecosystem and simplicity are woven into every aspect of the space.
Infused with the principles of yoga and a “less is more” philosophy, this is a place for those who wish to slow down, walk barefoot, live closer to nature and be nourished by the subtle magic of the land. A sanctuary within a sanctuary - offering space to rest, breathe and remember a different rhythm of life.

Nicolas is both a student and teacher of the science of breath. Certified as a Pranayama Teacher and Wim How Method Instructor, he brings a rare blend of intellectual curiosity and lived experience. With a lifelong fascination for the mysteries of existence, Nicolas has spent years immersed in the study of yogic philosophy, metaphysics, biochemistry, and the physiological power of breath.
Based in Sweden, Nicolas worked for years in a high-pressure work environment with long hours, constant performance demands, and very little room to breathe. In the midst of this, he began searching for a way to restore his energy, sharpen his focus, and reconnect to vitality.
That search led him to the Wim Hof Method and ancient Breathwork practices. Through consistent breathwork, cold exposure, and deep study of the body’s biochemistry, he experienced a profound shift - more clarity, resilience, and energy than ever before. What began as a personal healing practice quickly turned into a calling.
Over the past 4 years, Nicolas has guided and taught hundreds of people through breathwork journeys. His teaching is both grounded and accessible, weaving together science, personal insight, and a deep respect for the body’s intelligence. He has a unique gift for translating complex physiology into simple, inspiring concepts, empowering people to understand and trust their own inner systems.
